At the end of the school year, all eighth grade students enrolled in Middlebury’s Spanish or Chinese classes will be participating in the administration of a language proficiency assessment. This proficiency test is called The ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL). The visiting teachers from Middlebury have been reviewing the components of this assessment with the students. The Supervisor of Instruction responsible for World Languages has also visited with each class to discuss proficiency levels in more detail and answer any questions the students may have before taking the assessment.
The student will have four days to complete a different part each day: Interpretive Listening (IL), Interpretive Reading (IR), Interpersonal Listening and Speaking (ILS), and Presentational Writing (PW).
